Is Singapore Shopping More Expensive Than Elsewhere?

Ever wondered why that pair of Gap jeans or Abercrombie & Fitch T-shirt is more expensive in Singapore than in other countries? Well, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) intends to find out. The MAS has called for a study to see if anecdotal evidence – that prices of IKEA furniture and mid-priced apparel like Gap and A&F are higher here – is correct, and if so, what factors are the cause. TODAY asked shoppers on Orchard Road if they thought shopping here was more pricey.
