Obama lies on national television about US dollar appreciation

Obama tells boldfaced lie Use the dollar index to compare his statements to reality. www.marketwatch.com The dollar index is a measure that tracks dollar appreciation/depreciation vs. world currencies. Since obama was addressing china specifically you can also see that USD has been in depreciation against the yuan for years. Go to google and type in “USDCNY” to get the graph for that.

What’s your point? I made two points in my email:

    1. What you mean is bald-faced, not boldfaced.

    2. You are the only bad speller in this case since the “presidential campaign staff” never made the same mistake.

    What is your point?

Good lord, your screen name is very fitting….

  7. uncomonsense November 29, 2012 at 6:44 am #

It is bald-faced, unless you are referring to the typeface.

Also, the presidential campaign staff didn’t issue this comment in the form of a written statement. So I am not sure why you are claiming they made the same mistake that you made?

Don’t be too upset, you are not illiterate, just a bad speillar.

Boldfaced is absolutely right…if you are referring to typeface used in the transcript. Otherwise its bald-faced. Don’t get to upset. You are not illiterate, just a bad spiellar.

Google this article “Obama Campaign Decries ‘Bold-faced Lie”. If the presidential campaign staff is illiterate then I guess I am too. Its BOLD faced because the lie is so obvious as to be BOLD (like a printed headline or typed font).

Hey, illiterate boy… the word is BALD faced, not bold.

I went to the site you suggested. Those are the numbers and the dates. Verify it for yourself, they are in fact there where you told me to go. Google Finance even did the math of the percentage increase of the yuan’s value against the dollar— all I’ve done is typed out for you what you could have easily done for yourself. So far, your entire argument has been a fundamental misinterpretation of what the president was saying.

  13. RonPaulCurrency November 29, 2012 at 9:26 am #

I am confused on why you try to defend what you think the president was saying when it has already been refuted. You don’t just get to make up random numbers that have no basis in reality and then make an argument off of it.

On January 23, 2009 the yuan was equivalent to 0.1462 dollars. On October 15, 2012 it was at 0.1595. That’s an increase of 9.15% according to Google Finance, and it is still rising. Not 11% (which would put it at a whopping 0.1622 dollars!) but the president’s point was that the currency’s value is rising against the dollar despite China’s history of currency manipulation.

  15. RonPaulCurrency November 29, 2012 at 10:49 am #

Go on google finance and look at CNYUSD ratio over the dates january 20th 2009 to october 16th 2012. Google finance has a low resolution so the closest date they will put you at is the 23rd. At no point in the presidency has the yuan been up 11% on the dollar. So if your assertion about him referring to the yuan is correct, then he is still a liar because that math does not add up at all. 11% is a bogus statistic if you are saying he is looking at it from this point of view.

  16. ryuzx101 November 29, 2012 at 11:12 am #

The US Dollar Index doesn’t even factor the yuan into its metric, but I don’t think that matters because Obama wasn’t very clear on which currency went up. Most likely, since he was referring to the “currency manipulation” by China, the currency that went up would be the yuan vs the dollar in Obama’s assertion at the debate, and it has in fact done so. I disagree with your claim that Obama told a boldfaced lie.
