cont’d: For anyone over 35 and unable to find work due to career displacement after 10 or more years of solid work you need to do 2 things if you are unable to find work within 3 to 6 weeks:1) Eliminate the old standard of ‘looking for work’ 2) Start a ‘portable business’ that allows you to work anyplace. An excellent example is the woman at thrivingcandlebusiness com who does it despite narcolepsy. See also fourhourworkweek com 3. A ‘portable’ business eliminates geographic issues.

When my 11 year old mortgage and real estate company of slightly over 200 reps. folded in 2008 it was roughly 8 months after my difficult decision in the face of my conclusions that ‘this time is bigger and ‘different’ to apply for positions unrelated and when that didn’t work as it did in my 20′s I began to set clear deadlines.

Six months prior to my UI running out & no job we left the SF Bay Area and are using hubby’s VA benefit & planning an Internet and mail order biz
